About Dr. Nicole Barnett, DMD

Dr. Nicole Barnett is a dedicated general dentist whose passion for dentistry began at just eight years old. A native of Chatsworth, Georgia, her positive childhood experiences at the dental office inspired her lifelong commitment to creating welcoming, patient-centered environments.

Dr. Barnett graduated from Dalton High School before attending Auburn University, where she earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences, graduating Summa Cum Laude. While at Auburn, she was a member of the university’s gymnastics team, specializing in floor exercise and balance beam. Her academic and athletic excellence earned her recognition as the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year, an NCAA Academic All-American, and a recipient of the prestigious Wentworth Award, honoring the gymnast who best represents the values of the Auburn Creed.

She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Medical College of Georgia, where she received both the Hinman Dental Society Scholarship and the Judson C. Hickey Memorial Scholarship. Following dental school, Dr. Barnett completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

During her residency, she received advanced training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, forensic dentistry, family medicine, anesthesiology, and emergency medicine. She gained extensive experience managing dental emergencies while on ER call, coordinating complex interdisciplinary treatment plans, and providing care for patients with special needs and dental anxiety—both in-office and in operating room settings under general anesthesia.

After completing her residency, Dr. Barnett relocated to Atlanta, where she has practiced general dentistry for over a decade. She is passionate about patient education and takes pride in helping individuals understand their oral health while tailoring treatment plans to support their overall wellness goals.

Dr. Barnett resides in Atlanta with her husband, Evan—also a dentist—and their two cats, Linus and Jeorgette. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys exploring Atlanta’s vibrant culinary scene, discovering new coffee spots, and staying active through yoga, barre, dance, and outdoor activities on foot and by bicycle.
