Dr. Thomas J. Gilbert is proud to practice dentistry in the same community where he was raised. Growing up in Royal Oak, he developed a deep appreciation for community life, spending his childhood immersed in neighborhood sports and enjoying classic outings such as movies at the former Royal Oak drive-in theater.

His commitment to excellence began early. Raised by parents who were educators and administrators at Detroit Country Day School, Dr. Gilbert thrived academically while also excelling in athletics, particularly soccer and lacrosse. He went on to study biology and psychology at Albion College, where he continued competing at the varsity level in both sports. Dr. Gilbert earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Dental School in 1985.

A lifelong learner by nature, Dr. Gilbert continuously expands his knowledge to deliver the most advanced and comfortable care possible. Beyond staying current with dental journals and clinical research, he is an avid reader who often juggles multiple books at once, favoring mystery and suspense genres.

Continuing education has played a central role in Dr. Gilbert’s professional development. He has completed advanced training in Invisalign clear aligner therapy, treating patients ranging from teenagers to seniors.
